5 Beauty Products Worth The Splurge This January

Komal Basith

Here’s what to spend all that hard earned dough on.

If all the new beauty launches this January tell us one thing, it’s that glowing skin (and matte lips) aren’t going anywhere! Just as well since the weather’s still a bit unpredictable – hot one day, cold the next – which means we can use all the help we can get in the glow department. Here are some of the best new products to spend your hard-earned cash on this month!

Bobbi Brown Skin Glow

For those of you who can’t get enough of the highlighted, glowing skin trend, Bobbi Brown has a whole new collection dedicated to just this. Aptly titled Skin Glow, it consists of 3 new products. There’s Limited Edition Cheek Glow Palette (Rs. 5,100), which features her iconic Pot Rouge (the creamy cheek and lip balms) and new Cheek Glow Highlighters for even more shine. The best bit? Both products can be applied with just your fingertips for super quick glam on the go.

There’s also the Extra Lip Tint (Rs. 2,100), a sheer lip stain that moisturizes lips while providing a barely-there hint of colour and the Extra Illuminating Moisture Balm (Rs. 6,200), an illuminating moisture that features – what else? – light-reflective pearls for a gorgeous, lit-from-within glow.

Available at Bobbi Brown stores across Mumbai and Delhi.

MAC Retro Matte Extension

It may be all about that dewy skin but when it comes to the lips, mattes are still all everyone wants to talk about – and wear! If you’re a fan of the trend, try M.A.C.’s new range of colours for their Retro Matte range, which features super pigmented matte shades in nude, 90s-throwback shades that are perfect for rounding up an understated matte makeup look. I’m particularly loving the suede-like finish, which lasts for hours without needing a touch up.

Clinique Superbalanced Silk Makeup SPF 15

If you have combination or oily skin and are looking for foundation that won’t exacerbate your dry patches, trigger the oily ones to produce even more oil and covers up your pores, give Clinique’s latest a shot.

If your skin is the type that loves to pump out the oil, however, you might find that this isn’t quite as mattifying as you’d like – but it’s great at balancing out slightly dry to slightly oily skin types, and features a pretty flawless, smooth, matte finish to boot.

Estée Lauder Genuine Glow

And the glow-boosting products keep coming, this time with another entirely new range dedicated to providing you that lit-from-within finish. Estee Lauder’s Genuine Glow collection features oil-free moisturisers, highlighters, and sheer washes of colour via lipsticks that add just a hint of colour. A particular favourite is the Genuine Glow Blushing Creme for Lips and Cheeks, as is the Eyelighting Crème for Eyes and Face, which acts as a concealer and highlighter all in one.

Vichy Aqualia Oil in Water Essence

Essences are a purely Asian invention that work as a sort of hybrid between a toner and a moisturiser, and French brand Vichy has one of their own out this month as part of their water-enriched Aqualia range. This is one of those under the radar products that nevertheless performs incredibly well, especially if you have dehydrated skin that acts up when the weather is inconsistent like it is at the moment. It isn’t available online, unfortunately, but you can find it anywhere you can find Vichy – so check your local supermarket or pharmacy!

Rs. 4,000, available at Vichy outlets across the country.
