How To Contour Your Face In 5 Minutes Or Less

In addition to the fact that we’re all making out like face sculpting is an entirely new phenomenon and NOT in fact something that’s been in use extensively since the 70s rolled around, the thing I love most about the whole contour craze that’s hit the beauty world is that the powers that be have decided to communicate through their marketing speak that contouring your face will GIVE you cheekbones, when in fact it is a well known fact that the absence of cheekbones do not make a face, which is to say that in order to be a human being in possession of face, the ownership of cheekbones is a given – nay, a must.

So let’s clear that up – contouring won’t give you cheekbones, it’ll just make the ones you already have appear more prominent, thereby slimming your face down significantly and adding definition so that your other features like your eyes and your lips stand out, if you will.

As far as the actual technique goes, I get that it can seem a bit intimidating, especially because it can seem like you need a ton of products to get this look – not so.

In its most basic form, all you need to contour your face is two shades of cream or powder – one  that’s lighter than your skintone to dot onto the tops of your cheekbones, across your forehead and down your nose, and one that’s darker than your skin tone to apply under your cheekbones, on the perimeter of your face and right under your jawline.

Case in point: Clinique, who’ve done for contouring what they did for the smokey eye and the no-fuss lip with a new duo of contour and highlight Chubby Sticks.

What you get: two twist-up sticks, one in a universally flattering contour shade and one in an equally flattering highlight shade. Swipe each stick onto the areas mentioned above, blend with a foundation or blush brush, and say hello to an instantly contoured, more defined face. It’s really that easy.

The formulas are creamy without being greasy, won’t break you out, and supremely blendable, so you’ll never have to worry about streaks. In short, forget about those long YouTube tutorials; this is the easiest, quickest way yet to a perfectly sculpted, highlighted face - in five minutes or less.

Rs. 1,750 each, available at Clinique stores nationwide.
