The Perfect Beginner Skincare Routine

Komal Basith

With so much information out there about the latest greatest skincare product to add to your regime (and with Korean 12-step beauty regimes gaining popularity the world over), it’s easy to find yourself a bit confused about what you should be using.

The truth is while multi-layered skincare routines are great if you’ve got the time and inclination for it, you can have perfectly great skin with a simple, pared down regime. Here’s a look at a 5-step skincare routine that works well for all skin types. With a cameo by Miesha!

Neutrogena Extra Gentle Cleanser: Simple, fuss free and gentle, just like the name says.

Bioderma Sensibio: A French cult classic that removes makeup, sunscreen, dirt and grime in one fell swoop – or swipe.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water: A slightly cheaper alternative to Bioderma’s Sensibio that works just as well.

M.A.C. Lightful Softening Lotion: A watery essence that features plenty of Vitamin C for brighter, more radiant skin over time.

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair: A classic for a reason. Featuring hyaluronic acid for a boost of hydration. Using this consistently is possibly the best thing I’ve done for my skin over the years.

Cetaphil Moisturising Lotion: A light moisturiser that goes easy on acne-prone skin.

Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel: A dependable favourite; seals hydration into the skin, won’t interfere with pores, does exactly what a good moisturiser is supposed to.

Estee Lauder Revitalizing Supreme+: Features moringa extract and doubles as both a daytime moisturiser and a night cream. Delivers softer, more radiant skin.

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch Sunblock: Affordable, effective, and easily available. Win, win, win.
