Have you noticed that makeup has been on a bit of a hiatus for a while? It’s been all about a bare face over a ‘done’ one for the last year or so and while we’re totally on board with anything that places the emphasis on great skin, we’re happy to see that certain looks are making a comeback.
Take pink pastels, for example; while hardly a new idea for when it gets warmer out, we’re loving the idea of a monotone pink makeup look, one that extends from the lips to the cheeks to the eyes. We decided to create a slightly amped up version on Tessa Vellara recently (watch out for her turn in the new Karan Johar movie with Alia Bhatt, out this September).
Aside from being able to do it in 15 minutes flat, what we especially loved was the dual use of blush – the same product on the eyes and cheeks. On Tessa’s eyes, we blended Bobbi Brown's Blush in Pink Coral on the lid with Stila's Eyeshadow in Jezebel on the crease while Bare Minerals' Glimmer in Phyllis Queen, a powder highlighter, accentuated the brow bone. To add a little more depth, we blended in the Faces Eye Pencil in Purple on the upper lash line. A buff of the Bobbi Brown blush on the cheekbones, a swipe of Bobbi Brown's Lipstick in Tulle, and Tessa was done.
Tell us this isn't a fun look to wear this summer! What's great is that you can substitute these products with something you might have lying around, because they're easy to find; who doesn't have a bit of pink blush and lipstick in their makeup kit? Perfect for when you want to go all-out girly.
