The Holiday Party Look: The Glossy Eye

Mamta Mody

It’s New Year’s Eve! If you’re still wondering what you’re going to do for your makeup, we’ve got just the solution – Nidhi loved the glossy eye we talked about a few weeks ago so much that she’s incorporated it into her roster of party beauty looks, and she’s breaking it down below.

We’re using L’Oreal’s Color Riche Le Kohl in Portofino Blue to line the eyes (blue, greys and greens work better than black for this look), Elizabeth Arden’s 8 Hour Cream to lend a touch of gloss (although regular Vaseline or clear lip gloss, like Nyx's Lip Lacquer Pot in Love in Paris works great) and Bobbi Brown’s Lip Gloss in Nude for the lips (Revlon’s Color Burst Lip Gloss in Bronze Shimmer is a close alternative).

Start by drawing a messy line close to your lashes, extending it to about halfway up the eyelid. Don’t worry about being precise, since it’s only going to get smudged out later.

Next, draw a thin line close to your lower lashes, then line the waterline (the ridge between your lower lashes and your eye). Squeeze your eyes shut a few times to soften the colour up a bit.

Take a small dot of the lip balm on your middle finger and smudge the colour out, blending towards your natural crease.

For your finishing touch (and to match the glossiness on the lids), add a little lip gloss to your lips. If you’re using the 8 Hour Cream, it will also double as a clear gloss for your lips (and cheekbones, for a bit of added glow).

This is the easiest, sultriest look ever – 10 minutes is all it takes! Granted, of all the looks we’ve talked about in the lead up to New Year’s Eve this one requires the most touch ups, but chances are you already carry a bit of eyeliner and gloss with you anyway – just add more liner or gloss as you see fit through the night!

See you in the New Year!
