Three Perfect Ways To Wear A Bold Lip

Naaila Khan

Maybe you own a shocking pink hue you haven’t gotten around to using yet or maybe you stock up on Ruby Woo even before you run out, but there’s something empowering about sporting a bold lip! Only problem is, how do you do the rest of your face? You don’t want a full-on smokey eye lest you look like you looted Sephora, neither do you want to appear too pale – which a vibrant lip and a bare face usually tends to do.

So we played dress-up with Pavithra using L'oreal Paris Color Riche Moist Matte Lip Color in Lincoln Rose for a bright pink lip, and realized that all it takes is balance. Check out three ways you can flaunt a daring lip below – fair warning, you’ll probably be obsessed from here on!

THE BOLD LIP

1/3 BROWN WASH + MASCARA

This is as basic as it gets: Just prime your face as you normally would, cover your lid with a brown shadow that suits your skin tone best – no need for fancy brushes even – just your fingers work fine. You could even add a touch of black on the corners if you’ve treaded smokey eye territory before, but if you haven’t, don’t bother. Now overload on mascara, swipe on your rad hue, and there you go!

What We Used:

2/3 BROWN PENCIL + HIGHLIGHTER

You definitely have a brown pencil lying around somewhere – just use that to draw a basic liner and extend it out a bit for some drama. Now comes the show stealer: touch up the inner corners of the eyes with a shimmery gold/silver pencil (even a shimmer powder works) – this is also a super trick to open up smaller peepers. And voilà!

3/3 EASY CAT EYE

A cat eye is perhaps lesson 1 in eye makeup, so we trust you’ve probably dabbled in it before, but if you’re artistically challenged, this tutorial by Lisa Eldridge should definitely help. Create a small, kitten-flick version or a longer dramatic one, and you have yourself a gorgeous companion for your rad pout!
